How can you know whether you will like The Elitist Liberal? Well… do you sometimes care about all the war and the violence and, like, the poverty and disease in the world? Do you (perhaps hypocritically) believe in more government regulation when it comes to tobacco, consumer credit, unhealthy foods, and guns but less government regulation over things like gay marriage and abortion? Do you believe in multiculturalism, multilateralism, international cooperation, and all the rest of that pansy crap?
Do you eschew the model of the 1950′s-era Leave-It-To-Beaver nuclear family? Does Mitt Romney kinda creep you out even though you swear it’s not because he’s a Mormon ’cause that would be intolerant and intolerance is bad? Have you ever alluded to Foucault, Derrida, Sartre, or Nietzsche in front of your friends and felt pretty damn proud of yourself? Do you live in Massachusetts, New York City, Philly, Chicago, Denver, Portland, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., or Los Angeles? Have you ever referred to people who don’t live in those places as “ignorant rednecks”? Do you secretly toy with the idea that Barack Obama might be “The One”, like Jesus or like Neo from The Matrix?
Have you ever insisted that things are way better in Europe than in America even though you’ve only been to Europe for a short time and even then only to get epically shit-faced and see art museums? Do you believe Islam deserves greater respect in the world even though you also believe all religion is evil (well, all “organized religion” is evil that is; excepting Buddhism, of course)?
Even if you’re like me and you only believe in some or most of all that liberal elitist crap, you might enjoy my blog, The Elitist Liberal. There will also be a great deal of discussion on movies, music, art, and culture; and a good deal of profanity. I’ll allow comments, but I reserve the absolute dictatorial right to erase those comments that I don’t like, especially those that make me look dumb and uninformed (kidding!). FAIR WARNING: since I’m a staunch opponent of Political Correctness, there will sometimes be offensive comments. I always intend to be good-natured in making such comments, but if I offend you then certainly feel free to boycott my awesome blog, sad though that’ll make me.
